‘Dredd’ Official Trailer and Poster

Posted by Russell_Oz in Trailers. 2 comments

25th June

The first official trailer for Dredd has arrived and it definitely looks a helluva lot better than the original version (which shall not be named). It’s gritty, action-packed, and looks like it should restore some credibility to the name of Judge Dredd.

Directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point) and starring Karl Urban (Star Trek) and Lena Headey (TV’s Game of Thrones), Dredd tells the story of a city besieged by a new designer drug and it’s up to the men and women of the Hall of Justice to bring order back to the city. Some will be judged, some will be measured, and some will be executed!

So what did you think of the trailer?

There are a couple of things I thought of whilst watching the trailer, I couldn’t help but think of Robocop 2 and The Raid.

Do you remember Robocop 2? Man I … Read More »

‘End of Watch’ Poster & Trailer

10th June

The poster for the David Ayer directed police drama, End of Watch, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena, and Anna Kendrick has been released and it looks pretty good.

I’m not exactly sure of what the effect is called but I do like the “sun-streaked” effect on the sides of the posters, it reminds me of a similar effect used on the poster for Woody Harrelson corrupt cop drama, Rampart. I don’t know what it is about that effect that makes you think of cops-on-the-edge but it does.

If you haven’t seen the trailer for End of Watch before then here it is for your viewing pleasure. Now just a word of warning, I loved this trailer and I am probably gonna blog about it more…so if you’re one of those who hate it or have carried on about it on other sites … Read More »

‘Flight’ Trailer

7th June

You ever watch a trailer and think “I’m gonna go watch that just because of the cast?”, I just had that moment.

From director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and the Back to the Future trilogy) comes a story of a pilot (Denzel Washington) who manages to land his aircraft during a mid-air emergency and saving the lives of many onboard through a daring flying maneuver.

This looks interesting to me and I think that in lesser hands it might actually looks like a TV movie of the week but I hold out hope for Robert Zemeckis that’s still able to create an engaging and endearing film with great actors. I hope that Flight will be able to redeem him in the eyes of many since his last few films have all been creepy motion-capture and CG (A Christmas Carol, Beowulf, and … Read More »

‘Wreck-It Ralph’ Trailer

7th June

I’m sold! I’m in! I’m buying a ticket.

I’m not saying anything else until you watch the trailer because that’s how I first saw it, I knew nothing about it other than it was a Disney animated film.

Ok, you’ve seen it, right? Sweet, now how much did you LOVE IT???

I almost fell off the couch when I saw Ralph sitting there in a group therapy session at Bad-Anon: One Game at a time surrounded by other infamous video game villains: Bowser, the ghost from Pac-Man, Zombies, M Bison, and Zangief! That was absolutely brilliant and I think I would go to watch it based on that! It looks like it has a similar, not the same, kind of feel as Pixar’s The Incredibles – discontentment and a willingness to take your happiness into your own hands.

I love the idea … Read More »

‘Django Unchained’ Official International Trailer

“Django….the ‘D’ is silent”

Quentin Tarantino is back and you know that the moment you hear two things during the trailer, the dialogue and the soundtrack!

In what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year (I am speaking about me, of course) the trailer delivers even more than what I was hoping for!

When I read the synopsis of Django Unchained which about a German bounty hunter, Dr King Shultz (Christoph Waltz) who teams up with an escaped slave, Django (Jamie Foxx) and teaches him how to hunt down people and then uses these skills to rescue his enslaved wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from an evil plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) I wasn’t entirely sure of the tone that it would take but after watching the trailer I am now even more pumped for it!

What did … Read More »

‘This is 40′ Official Trailer

Posted by Russell_Oz in Trailers. 6 comments

1st June

How can anyone be afraid of turning 40?

Well if you’re Pete and Debbie I can TOTALLY understand why! You remember Pete and Debbie, right?

2007 was the year of Judd Apatow’s pregnancy/slacker comedy Knocked Up where we were introduced to the characters of Pete and Debbie portrayed by Paul Rudd and Apatow’s real life wife, Leslie Mann. No disrespect to Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl but they were outshone by the long-time married couple whose one-liner’s stole the entire movie with what could be one of the most realistic portrayals of married life I’ve ever seen on the big screen.

They are back by popular demand in  Apatow’s “sequel of sorts”, This is 40, which follows the continued adventures of the Pete and Debbie  whilst they try to better their lives whilst approaching the big 4-0.

I have been looking forward to this one for a … Read More »

‘The Master’ Official Teaser Trailer

Posted by Russell_Oz in Trailers. 4 comments

22nd May

The return of Paul Thomas Anderson is nigh.

You have been forewarned. Ready thy self for the coming storm because you know it’s going to be a big one.

The first official trailer for PTA’s The Master has been released and whilst it doesn’t give away much, it sure as hell makes you interested to know more. A lot more!

From the director of Magnolia (which still blows me away with every viewing) and There Will Be Blood (easily one of the greatest films of the last 30 years) comes the story of a drifter (Joaquin Phoenix) who becomes involved with an “intellectual stranger” whose faith-based organisation is beginning to catch on during 1950′s America.

You just know that the description above won’t even begin to broach the complexities of the story or the examination of the human condition and religious themes that will … Read More »

Guest Post: Cosmopolis Full Trailer Released

Posted by Russell_Oz in Trailers. 4 comments

21st May

The full trailer for Cosmopolis has finally arrived, and it’s looking to be an extremely intriguing watch.

Just as it is announced that Cosmopolis is part of the line-up of the Cannes Film Festival, the full length trailer surfaced on the internet. How convenient, eh? There is no better publicity than Cannes. Even the non film enthusiasts who would rather stay in and play on http://www.cheekybingo.com/ or bake cookies, pay attention when this festival comes around.

We had an idea that Cosmopolis was to be included in the Cannes line-up, because the teaser trailer, had a date tagged onto the end, coinciding with the film festival. And it doesn’t have a theatrical release date, everyone naturally put two and two together.

Robert Pattinson stars in a role extremely different to his most famous role in Twilight, and we must say, the new style suits him. … Read More »

‘Argo’ Trailer

17th May

Ben Affleck surprised the world with his directorial skills in Gone Baby Gone and followed it up with successful heist movie The Town, now he’s back again on double duty, both directing and starring in Argo, the true story of the rescue of 6 American hostages during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis.

When watching the trailer the first thing you notice is that there are a lot of moustaches and beards during 1979, it’s almost a little unsettling seeing them all…however that might just be beard envy on my part since I am not “allowed” to have a beard. Well I guess I could push the envelope and try to keep it but it tends to make the missus a little unhappy…which in turn makes me a little unhappy. Um, ok…what was my point again?

Oh yeah, Argo.

So Ben Affleck gets back into the … Read More »
