The Newsroom stars Jeff Daniels as popular news anchor who unbiased political opinions has made him the “Jay Leno of news anchors because he doesn’t bother anyone” until one moment where he unleashes his brutal opinion on an unsuspecting audience. The video is captured on a multitude of devices and then goes viral.
In what has been described as a scene influenced by Peter Finch’s performance as Howard Beale in Network about the anchor being “made as hell and not going to take it any more”, I can certainly see that it is reminiscent but personally I am hoping that it’s more than that.
