Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd and Charlie Chaplin, names synonymous with the great silent era and absolute legends of an art form not seen for over 90 years. I grew up watching these old masters and I would urge anyone with a love of cinema to go back and watch Chaplin’s Gold Rush, The Great Dictator, and my personal favourite Keaton’s absolute masterpiece Civil War epic The General.
What you will learn and what you will see is that the past is the past and as great as this era was there is a reason we moved on. The accolades that The Artist has received to me says a lot about the current state of Hollywood and the movies that they are churning out. Release Dates in Australia

What is it with Australia getting releases after the rest of the world?
I’m not just talking a couple of weeks I am talking about months after they get released in the US!
As someone who spends a substantial amount of time on the Internet daily chatting with a lot of different film fans and reading a lot of different blogs and websites, it is made abundantly clear that we are getting the raw end of the stick (I fought the temptation to say “raw prawn”…)
There are a couple of movies that I would like to see now given the huge amount of positive reviews I have seen floating around the web and it’s just not fair that we need to wait until NEXT YEAR to watch them.
