‘Savages’ Trailer

The trailer for Oliver Stone’s Savages has been released and it kicks ass!

It has a Jackie Brown vibe to it, which is great casting combined with a strong story and a unique style. The cast consists of Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro, John Travolta, Blake Lively, Emile Hirsch, and Taylor Kitsch.

The only issue that I have with this film so far is that there is no way that I am going to be rooting for the “good guys” to win against a Mexican cartel that has Salma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro on its side….

Hayek and Del Toro win hands down in my book!

Savages is released in Australia on the 27th September 2012

Oliver Stone’s ‘Savages’ Poster

Oliver Stone is back! And this time it looks like he’s brought a killer cast with a pretty intriguing story along with him!

I only just heard about Savages today when Empire posted a link for the poster (thanks to joblo.com) and I’ve got to say that reading the story outline and who is involved got me instantly interested.

Savages is the story of 2 Laguna Beach pot growers, Ben (Aaron Johnson) and Chon (Taylor Kitsch) who’s girlfriend (Blake Lively) gets kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel looking to make inroads to their business and a bloody war ensues. However it looks like the laid-back pot grower Chon is in fact a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary.

(Ok, just to interrupt for a second, I know that this sounds like a remake of Under Siege, hang in there….here comes the good bit.)

'John Carter' Trailer Released

16th July

When I first heard about John Carter I didn’t really know what to think because the title didn’t really give away much and then when the poster was released it showed Taylor Kitsch in a warrior-type pose and that was about it. See below.

So that’s when I decided to go and do a little research and it turns out that the film is based on a series of books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the same man who brought us the stories of Tarzan. These books prove to be some strong source material considering the first of the books was written in 1911.

The basic premise tells the story of Captain John Carter of the Confederate Army who is then whisked away to Mars and discovers a different world full of strange creatures, a crumbling civilisation, and the need to become a hero.

Have you heard of the new film John Carter?

I actually only heard of it through Twitter but I was hooked after I did a little searching online and found out that’s basically Glory meets Avatar meets Total Recall and it’s based on an original set of books written in 1912 by the same author of the Tarzan books, Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote a series of Mars books (referred to as Barsoom, as the martians referred to it) starting in 1911. The original trilogy – A Princess of Mars, The Gods of Mars, The Warlord of Mars – tells the story of Captain John Carter of the Confederate Army who is then whisked away to Mars and discovers a different world full of strange creatures, a crumbling civilisation, and the need to become a hero.

From the Blog!

1:37 exactly is a website designed to share movie reviews, trailers, and assorted bits n pieces that I find interesting, and hopefully some of you too. It is NOT a website for all official and up to date movie news and reviews. Trust me, there are PLENTY of great movie blogs and official websites that cover everything. In fact, if you ask me I will provide a list of them to you! Hopefully there is something on the site that you find interested and want to engage in a discussion on, if not, thanks for stopping by. Cheers, @Russell_Oz
