‘Iron Man 3′ – Screenwriter Announced

Greetings all,
The good news for today is that Shane Black has confirmed that he will not only be the director of Iron Man 3 but the screenwriter too!
According to SuperHeroHype Mr Black confirmed that he will be writing and directing the film at the recent Omaha Film Festival.
This is terrific news because if you’re familiar with Mr Black’s screenwriting credits then you know that the man can write a great film. If you’re not familiar, here are some of the great ones;
Lethal Weapon (1987)
The Monster Squad (1987)
The Last Boy Scout (1991)
Last Action Hero (1993)
The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)
Just typing that list made me smile because I rate The Last Boy Scout and The Long Kiss Goodnight as 2 of my favourite action movies…plus the dialogue in The Last Boy Scout is just awesome…

It’s official!
Shane Black will be directing Iron Man 3!
Superherohype reports that it’s been confirmed that Mr Black will be directing the next Iron Man film, scheduled for a May 2013 release.
Mr Black is best known as a screenwriter and has been involved in the following (some of my favourite action movies BTW);
Lethal Weapon
The Monster Squad
Lethal Weapon 2 (collaborated on this one)
The Last Boy Scout
The Long Kiss Goodnight
Last Action Hero (re-write)
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (director as well)
I was a little disappointed when I heard the news that Jon Favreau would not be back as director on the next Iron Man installment and thought it would be difficult for anyone to be able to step into his shoes…however if anyone could step up and make another great Iron Man film, it’s going to be Shane Black.
