‘Savages’ Trailer

The trailer for Oliver Stone’s Savages has been released and it kicks ass!

It has a Jackie Brown vibe to it, which is great casting combined with a strong story and a unique style. The cast consists of Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro, John Travolta, Blake Lively, Emile Hirsch, and Taylor Kitsch.

The only issue that I have with this film so far is that there is no way that I am going to be rooting for the “good guys” to win against a Mexican cartel that has Salma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro on its side….

Hayek and Del Toro win hands down in my book!

Savages is released in Australia on the 27th September 2012

Oliver Stone’s ‘Savages’ Poster

Oliver Stone is back! And this time it looks like he’s brought a killer cast with a pretty intriguing story along with him!

I only just heard about Savages today when Empire posted a link for the poster (thanks to joblo.com) and I’ve got to say that reading the story outline and who is involved got me instantly interested.

Savages is the story of 2 Laguna Beach pot growers, Ben (Aaron Johnson) and Chon (Taylor Kitsch) who’s girlfriend (Blake Lively) gets kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel looking to make inroads to their business and a bloody war ensues. However it looks like the laid-back pot grower Chon is in fact a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary.

(Ok, just to interrupt for a second, I know that this sounds like a remake of Under Siege, hang in there….here comes the good bit.)

‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’ Trailer

18th November

I’ve never really been a fan of stop-motion animation, it just never really appealed to me.

I tried watching Wallace and Gromit but it never really did it for me. I mean there were certainly some funny parts but I wouldn’t go back and watch any of them again. Even Chicken Run didn’t hold any appeal and I am still yet to watch it.

So when I heard about the new stop-motion film coming out I have to say that my expectations weren’t high…and the trailer pretty much delivered what I expected.

So the look of the film is pretty much in-line with every other stop-motion film I have seen, features a veritable who’s who of acting talent (Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson, Jeremy Piven, Brian Blessed, Lenny Henry, Salma Hayek, Martin Freeman, and David Tennant), and some of the humour we have to … Read More »

Kevin James, star of King of Queens and The Dilemma, is starring in a new film about the increasingly popular sport, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).

Here Comes The Boom tells the story of a desperate physics teacher who begins moonlighting as a mixed martial arts fighter in order to save jobs and programs at his fiscally challenged high school.

The actor who is known for his larger physique and boisterous persona has had to undertake a gruelling training program in order to prepare for the physical challenges of playing a MMA fighter.

This photo posted on Twitter by legendary UFC Ring Announcer Bruce Buffer (@brucebuffer) shows the newly slimmed down Kevin James on the first day of filming.

Kevin James has been a long time supporter of MMA and the UFC and is friends with Randy Couture, so it only makes sense that … Read More »

From the Blog!

1:37 exactly is a website designed to share movie reviews, trailers, and assorted bits n pieces that I find interesting, and hopefully some of you too. It is NOT a website for all official and up to date movie news and reviews. Trust me, there are PLENTY of great movie blogs and official websites that cover everything. In fact, if you ask me I will provide a list of them to you! Hopefully there is something on the site that you find interested and want to engage in a discussion on, if not, thanks for stopping by. Cheers, @Russell_Oz
