'Gangster Squad' Updates

23rd November

As you probably know I am really looking forward to Gangster Squad (if not, some of my other articles are here) just because I love a good gangster flick and this one looks like it’s shaping up to be something awesome!

What do we know so far?

The film is based on a series of 8 articles written for the LA Times by Paul Lieberman that focussed on the creation of a special Police unit called the Gangster Squad whose objective was to keep the city free of the East Coast Mafia in the 1940′s and 50′s.

Who’s in it?

It’s pretty much a veritable who’s who of Hollywood, check it;

Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin, Nick Nolte, Giovanni Ribisi, Robert Patrick, Michael Pena, and Anthony Mackie.

Sean Penn is playing real-life gangster Mickey Cohen and Ryan Gosling is Sgt Jerry Wooters, the cop in … Read More »

‘Safe House’ Trailer

5th November

The Safe House trailer has just been released and I have to say it looks pretty good!

Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Easy Money) and starring Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Robert Patrick, and Vera Farmiga.

After his disastrous performance in Green Lantern, I bet that Ryan Reynolds is hoping that this will be his return into the good graces of audiences everywhere. Providing that the trailer didn’t give away all the good stuff, then this might just do it for him. As for Denzel playing the “bad” guy role, the guy can play this in his sleep…so I have no doubt that he’ll be great in it.

Safe House is schedule for a February 2012 release in the US.

‘The Gangster Squad’ nabs Robert Patrick

Well, it looks like the Ruben Fleischer directed film The Gangster Squad has made up for the loss of Bryan Cranston…the addition of the T-1000 himself, Robert Patrick.

Empire reports today that Robert Patrick is in final negotiations to join the cast of The Gangster Squad in the role that was recently going to be played by Bryan Cranston until he had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts. The role is LAPD officer Max Kennard, a Texan officer who’s laid back attitude to life disguises his hard working life.

As awesome is Bryan Cranston is, Robert Patrick is a character actor who can hold his own against others on screen. Just look at his dramatic performances in Cop Land and TV’s The Sopranos.

Are we excited?

From the Blog!

1:37 exactly is a website designed to share movie reviews, trailers, and assorted bits n pieces that I find interesting, and hopefully some of you too. It is NOT a website for all official and up to date movie news and reviews. Trust me, there are PLENTY of great movie blogs and official websites that cover everything. In fact, if you ask me I will provide a list of them to you! Hopefully there is something on the site that you find interested and want to engage in a discussion on, if not, thanks for stopping by. Cheers, @Russell_Oz
