Going to the movies these days is fraught with danger and sadly too often disappointment. Over the years I have seen adaptations, good and bad of beloved comic book heroes that have left me speechless, alas more than not for the wrong reasons. Whether it was The Caped Crusader, The Man of Steel or any of the hundreds of others, as kids we loved them, in our own way own a piece of them and demand that whoever’s turn it is to put them on the big screen they do them justice.

The Adventures of Tintin is a step forward in motion-capture film-making and a faithful adaptation of the popular comic books and will be enjoyed by children and teenagers all over the world.

That’s about all the nice things that I can say about the movie. As an adult, I found it far too childish and uninteresting to keep engaged in the story and after the 30 minute mark I was ready to make my way towards to the exit.

I am a little conflicted about writing this review for 2 main reasons. The first is that I grew up loving the comic books and would eagerly go to the library and check out a new book every couple of days. After finishing the 7 or 8 books that the library had I would go back and read them again. This makes me think that … Read More »

The poster and first look trailer has been released for the very anticipated 3D motion-capture event of the year, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

Directed by Steven Spielberg and co-written by Edgar Wright, the story follows the adventures of Tintin and his friends as they discover directions to a sunken ship commanded by Capt. Haddock’s ancestor and go off on a treasure hunt.

I remember borrowing the Tintin books from my library when I was much younger and lving the story, the adventure, the gruffness of Captain Haddock, and the humour of Thomson and Thomson, it was pure escapsim and adventure.

After watching the trailer below, I reserve judgement.
