‘Captain America’: One of my favourite films of the year
5th August
** If you haven’t seen the film yet, go and watch it now…then come back and read the review…potential minor spoilers **As a fan of Captain America for a long time I was worried that the film wouldn’t be able to capture the essence of Steve Rogers, the man who became a shining symbol of not just a country but of what good men are capable of achieving.
I am very happy to report that Captain America: The First Avenger exceeded my hopes and has quickly become of my favourite films of the year!
The film tells the story of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), a 90 pound “weakling” from Brooklyn who wants to join the Army more than anything else. He is so inspired to do his part that despite rejection after rejection from the recruiters he returns for yet another attempt.

Captain America Review: “a mildly entertaining affair”
2nd August
Written by: M_L!nkster
Summary…
We meet our lead as a small boy who is taken by propaganda and wants to enlist and have the opportunity to ‘lay down his life for freedom and his country’. It takes the character of mad scientist (played by Stanly Tucci ) to give us insight into wholesome values that drive this young man.
Suffering from every aliment under the sun the Cap’t is skinny, weakly, spends his time getting bullied and getting rejected from enlistment camps. Tucci’s character decides to enlist him into a program to create super soldiers, here we see that despite his physical limitations the young cap’t is powered by the heart of a lion and counselled by a wise mind.
It is at this early stage of the film we meet the rest of the supporting cast Peggy; an MI 6 operative working in … Read More »

Captain America: New One Sheet Poster
27th June
Written by: Stoic Taco
As tweeted earlier this week by Ryan Penagos (@Agent_M), the Editorial Director of Marvel.com, there is a new Captain America: The First Avenger one sheet poster.
Here is Steve Rogers looking very much the part of the all American boy;
I am a fan of the slightly washed out look of the poster and the steely look of determination in his eyes as Cap sets out to put an end to the Nazi regime.
Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, the 90 pound “weakling” who volunteers for the Super Soldier Program and is transformed into the first super human soldier Captain America. The film is directed by Joe Johnston (Rocketeer) and is scheduled for release in the US 22nd July 2011 and a week later in Australia.
The film looks fantastic and I can’t wait for … Read More »
‘Captain America’ Villain – Red Skull
4th March
Greetings all,
Behold the Red Skull!
You have to give it to the creative team working on Captain America: The First Avenger plenty of credit because when it comes to bringing to life a character whose head is a RED SKULL and making it look all kinds of cool, they have succeeded and then some!
There was always the very real possibility that it was going to look camp, silly, and just over the top…but none of that here!
So now it’s over to Hugo Weaving to bring the goods, like he ALWAYS does (Matrix, V for Vendetta, and The Interview)
Bring on July 22nd 2011!
