4th April

The first look of Christoph Waltz as Dr King Schultz has been released and thanks the always on-the-ball folks over at /Film, here it is!

I believe that Quentin Tarantino’s latest film would have to be one most anticipated films of the year, well whenever I talk to a fellow film fan they mention it…well The Dark Knight Rises, of course

The film will tell the story of a slave-turned-bounty hunter who, along with his bounty hunter mentor, sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. You just know that in the hands of the master film-maker that this is going to be brutal, confronting, and a helluva of a ride.

With a cast that consists of Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonard DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kurt Russell, Don Johnson, RZA, … Read More »

22nd January

Greetings all,

Thanks for stopping by and checking out another instalment of the Weekly Slab, a time where I get to look back at some of the interesting stories in the week….that I couldn’t be bothered posting before today. I mean, I’ve saved them all just for today..

Carnage Trailer

It was last Monday that I came across the trailer for Carnage, a film with a killer cast, well-known director, and based on a stage play. It took me by complete surprise because I had never heard of it! Since then, however, I have read a few reviews (go have a look at Anomalous Material for a great review and also over at MyFilmViews for another good read) and overall it’s been mixed which only gets me more interested in seeing it.

With a cast consisting of Jodie Foster, John C Reilly, Kate Winslet, … Read More »

1st November

Thanks to Deadline it has been confirmed that Anthony LaPaglia has scored a small but pivotal role in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.

The Australian actor, best known for his role in Without a Trace (and personally he’ll forever be Joe in Empire Records) will be able to keep his accent since he’ll be playing the leader of a group of greedy Australians who encounter Django (Jamie Foxx) as they escorting a group of recently purchased slaves.

The article also confirms that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will have a role in the film, cast as the brother to LaPaglia’s slave owner.

Django Unchained is shaping up to be something big and with Tarantino at the helm it is sure to deliver special.

The cast line-up thus far;

Jamie Foxx is Django
Leonardo DiCaprio is Calvin Candie
Samuel L Jackson is Stephen
Christoph Waltz is Dr King Schultz
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is currently unnamed

‘Water for Elephants’ Review – “Surprisingly Average”

Posted by Russell_Oz in Movie Reviews. No Comments

10th May

From all the hype of the movie I was expecting a true love story to sweep me off my feet. Having never read the novel I was unaware of how much more this movie had install for me.

The Water for Elephants story is told by Jacob Jankowski (R Patt) a 93 year old man telling his memories of his life starting at age 23.

The main plot of the movie – love story between the young veterinary school dropout and the main attraction of the “The Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth” – leading Lady Marlene (Reese W) was fairly predictable. Throw in an angry and brutal suspicious husband /ring master known as August (Christoph Waltz) who owns the circus and is finding it tough keeping the troop together in the depression years,  and you end up with the typical badly treated … Read More »

From the Blog!

1:37 exactly is a website designed to share movie reviews, trailers, and assorted bits n pieces that I find interesting, and hopefully some of you too. It is NOT a website for all official and up to date movie news and reviews. Trust me, there are PLENTY of great movie blogs and official websites that cover everything. In fact, if you ask me I will provide a list of them to you! Hopefully there is something on the site that you find interested and want to engage in a discussion on, if not, thanks for stopping by.
