I have to digress briefly and mention my increasing intolerance for fellow moviegoers.

Throughout the entire film I had a fellow patron rattle her and her child’s hands in chip packets. Seriously these things should be banned from cinemas. They are distracting and heavily impact on the enjoyment of the film for others. I am taking a stand. No chips. No slurping your drink – if it’s empty, slurping won’t create any more Coke, either buy a bigger one or drink slower. No sniffing, coughing or TALKING! If you want to chit chat, LEAVE!

I am disgusted with the constant disregard for others enjoyment. I hate having to get up mid-movie and dash to the toilet but if it’s necessary it must be done. I don’t stomp up the stairs like a hippo from Fantasia, I like to think I … Read More »

Snow White and the Huntsman TV Spot

Posted by Russell_Oz in Trailers. No Comments

30th March

Generally whenever you see a short 30 second TV commercial for an upcoming film it’s usually just a shorter tighter version of the official trailer but I have to say that the one below for Snow White and the Huntsman is brilliant! If you were undecided as to whether you’d go see it or not, you have your answer below.

That is one of the best 30 second TV spots I have seen in ages. In fact I can’t think of one in recent memory. This one is great from start to finish, but perhaps that might be that it focuses pretty heavily on Charlize Theron as Queen Ravenna and Chris Hemsworth as The Huntsman plus relies on a lot of action.

Well it certainly worked for me because I’m sitting here writing the post saying how awesome it is! Although if … Read More »

‘The Avengers’ Concept Art

Yes, I know I am late.

I am very sure that everyone has already seen these images for the forthcoming epic that is The Avengers on pretty much every other film, comic, fan site out there BUT I don’t really care…because these are just too cool and look amazing not to have on my site.

So here they are, fresh from the Marvel website!

This is the official landscape poster that features all the players in one glorious image!

Let’s take roll call. And look at the images up close!

Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)

To be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of this character in Iron Man 2 so here’s hoping…

Tony Stark aka Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr)

I really dig the background images behind Iron Man, a combo from both films.

Bruce Banner aka The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)

In his very … Read More »

Thor Movie Premiere

Posted by Russell_Oz in Movie Reviews, Superhero Stuff. No Comments

19th April

On Sunday 17th April 2011 Thor had its world premiere at the Event Cinemas in George Street Sydney Australia.

My girlfriend and I were EXTREMELY lucky enough to score some passes to attend the event!

To say it was a dream come true would be an understatement because I have been looking forward to Thor since I heard that they were doing a big screen adaptation. I was planning on just heading down to the cinema just to take some photos of the event and never planned that I would be able to watch it on opening night!

We headed down George St and could see the lights calling our names…well ok I could SEE the lights…and as we edged nearer to the cinemas we were confronted with a crowd…a rather larger crowd!

So we dove right on in, fighting the crowd for the … Read More »

Thor – “A film worthy of the Gods” Review

17th April

Tonight I attended the world premiere of Thor at Sydney’s Event Cinemas in George St Sydney!

The girl and I were lucky enough to score passes to attend the premiere and it was better than we could have ever hoped for! It was a brilliant night and I will post some pics from the exclusive access that we had before the film screening!

On to the review now,

Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh (Hamlet, Frankenstein) and starring home-grown hero Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek) as the title character, the latest film from Marvel Entertainment and Paramount Pictures brings to life the story of the Mjolnir wielding God of Thunder.

Thor is an interesting choice for the big screen because he is not as well known as Spider-Man, Batman, or Superman to the average cinema goer, which presents a challenge – how do you make an origin story that … Read More »

Thor Posters – Poorly Designed?

Posted by Russell_Oz in Movie News, Superhero Stuff. No Comments

30th March

Greetings all,

You know I am pumped for Thor!

I’ve written about this before and I am absolutely pumped to see the God of Thunder in action!

Um…however…don’t these posters look a little weak? Is it just me or do the words superimposed over the faces of the actors that we are paying to go SEE just take away from the impact of the poster?

I thought that a picture says 1000 words…apparently not…

In case I forgot to mention, the Thor premiere takes place in Sydney’s George St cinema’s on Sunday 17th April!!!

8th March

UPDATE!!

The Australian release is April 21st 2011!!

Yee hah!!

—————————————————————————————————————-

Greetings all,

According to the Event Cinemas website, Thor will be released on the 28th April 2011.

This is brilliant news for 2 reasons;

1. It’s only 7 weeks away…and I can only watch the trailer so many times…

2. It’s my birthday! That’s right, the Taco turns 30!

So what better way to celebrate than to head off to the cinema and check out the newest comic book adaptation from director Kenneth Brannagh and starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman!

Here are the latest Thor posters;

For those of who are unfamiliar with the story of the Norse God, Thor is the story of the fierce but arrogant warrior who is cast out of Asgard and exiled to Earth where he must live with the mortals. When the most dangerous villain of his world sends the warriors of Asgard to invade Earth, Thor … Read More »

It is NOT a website for all official and up to date movie news and reviews. Trust me, there are PLENTY of great movie blogs and official websites that cover everything. In fact, if you ask me I will provide a list of them to you! Hopefully there is something on the site that you find interested and want to engage in a discussion on, if not, thanks for stopping by.
