Guest Review: The Avengers
3rd May
Written by: Rainbow
I have to digress briefly and mention my increasing intolerance for fellow moviegoers.
Throughout the entire film I had a fellow patron rattle her and her child’s hands in chip packets. Seriously these things should be banned from cinemas. They are distracting and heavily impact on the enjoyment of the film for others. I am taking a stand. No chips. No slurping your drink – if it’s empty, slurping won’t create any more Coke, either buy a bigger one or drink slower. No sniffing, coughing or TALKING! If you want to chit chat, LEAVE!
I am disgusted with the constant disregard for others enjoyment. I hate having to get up mid-movie and dash to the toilet but if it’s necessary it must be done. I don’t stomp up the stairs like a hippo from Fantasia, I like to think I … Read More »
'Captain America': One of my favourite films of the year
5th August
** If you haven’t seen the film yet, go and watch it now…then come back and read the review…potential minor spoilers **As a fan of Captain America for a long time I was worried that the film wouldn’t be able to capture the essence of Steve Rogers, the man who became a shining symbol of not just a country but of what good men are capable of achieving.
I am very happy to report that Captain America: The First Avenger exceeded my hopes and has quickly become of my favourite films of the year!
The film tells the story of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), a 90 pound “weakling” from Brooklyn who wants to join the Army more than anything else. He is so inspired to do his part that despite rejection after rejection from the recruiters he returns for yet another attempt.

Captain America Review: "a mildly entertaining affair"
2nd August
Written by: M_L!nkster
Summary…
We meet our lead as a small boy who is taken by propaganda and wants to enlist and have the opportunity to ‘lay down his life for freedom and his country’. It takes the character of mad scientist (played by Stanly Tucci ) to give us insight into wholesome values that drive this young man.
Suffering from every aliment under the sun the Cap’t is skinny, weakly, spends his time getting bullied and getting rejected from enlistment camps. Tucci’s character decides to enlist him into a program to create super soldiers, here we see that despite his physical limitations the young cap’t is powered by the heart of a lion and counselled by a wise mind.
It is at this early stage of the film we meet the rest of the supporting cast Peggy; an MI 6 operative working in … Read More »

'The Avengers' Concept Art
28th July
Written by: Stoic Taco
Yes, I know I am late.
I am very sure that everyone has already seen these images for the forthcoming epic that is The Avengers on pretty much every other film, comic, fan site out there BUT I don’t really care…because these are just too cool and look amazing not to have on my site.
So here they are, fresh from the Marvel website!
This is the official landscape poster that features all the players in one glorious image!
Let’s take roll call. And look at the images up close!
Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)
To be honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of this character in Iron Man 2 so here’s hoping…
Tony Stark aka Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr)
I really dig the background images behind Iron Man, a combo from both films.
Bruce Banner aka The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo)
In his very … Read More »

Captain America: New One Sheet Poster
27th June
Written by: Stoic Taco
As tweeted earlier this week by Ryan Penagos (@Agent_M), the Editorial Director of Marvel.com, there is a new Captain America: The First Avenger one sheet poster.
Here is Steve Rogers looking very much the part of the all American boy;
I am a fan of the slightly washed out look of the poster and the steely look of determination in his eyes as Cap sets out to put an end to the Nazi regime.
Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, the 90 pound “weakling” who volunteers for the Super Soldier Program and is transformed into the first super human soldier Captain America. The film is directed by Joe Johnston (Rocketeer) and is scheduled for release in the US 22nd July 2011 and a week later in Australia.
The film looks fantastic and I can’t wait for … Read More »
