'In the Land of Blood and Honey' Trailer
24th November
Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, has a trailer and it looks good.
The film is set during the Bosnian War (1992-1995) and tells the story of Danijel, a Serbian soldier, and Ajla, a Bosnian who were once a young couple in love who re-encounter each other during the war. A time when countries have been ravaged by war, they find they are no longer the same people they once were. Can love survive?
The Bosnian War may have only lasted 3 years officially but the tension and hatred which led to the War existed long before the dates suggest and the scars are still being felt today, and will continue for a very long time to come.
I am sure the subject matter of the film will cause some to question its intentions, will cause others to … Read More »

Angelina Jolie has been cast in the lead role in the David Fincher directed epic, Cleopatra.
Ms Jolie, 35, is no stranger to playing strong independent women so it makes sense that she has been cast in a role that would see her lead a country in a world dominated by men.
According to The Telegraph, Ms Jolie said “She has been very misunderstood. I thought it was all about the glamour, but then I read about her and she was a very strong mother, she spoke five languages and she was a leader.”
It’s not uncommon for people to think of great beauty and romance when thinking of Cleopatra because you think about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Not about the financial mess that the studio was in after the film flopped at the box office and was over-shadowed by … Read More »

The film is a love story between a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman set on the eve of the Yugoslav Wars, fought from 1991-1995. Ms Jolie stated “The film is specific to the Bosnian War, but it’s also universal. I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behaviour are deeply affected by living inside a war.”
Starring Rade Serbedzija (Snatch, Happy Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1), Branko Djuric (Nasa mala klinika), and Nikola Djuricko (Montevideo, God Bless You!). In order to be as accurate as possible, the film was recorded in both Serbo-Croatian (the language spoken at the time of the war) and in English.
