'John Carter' Trailer Released
16th July
When I first heard about John Carter I didn’t really know what to think because the title didn’t really give away much and then when the poster was released it showed Taylor Kitsch in a warrior-type pose and that was about it. See below.
So that’s when I decided to go and do a little research and it turns out that the film is based on a series of books by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the same man who brought us the stories of Tarzan. The basic premise tells the story of Captain John Carter of the Confederate Army who is then whisked away to Mars and discovers a different world full of strange creatures, a crumbling civilisation, and the need to become a hero.

Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote a series of Mars books (referred to as Barsoom, as the martians referred to it) starting in 1911. The original trilogy – A Princess of Mars, The Gods of Mars, The Warlord of Mars – tells the story of Captain John Carter of the Confederate Army who is then whisked away to Mars and discovers a different world full of strange creatures, a crumbling civilisation, and the need to become a hero.
