Wow! What a day!
Just when you think you can trust the information that you find on reliable websites it looks like Dominic Cooper was only EYEING the role of John Gotti Jr! In fact, the news that has just been released today is that Ben Foster has been the lucky man to land the role!
Ben Foster, known for his roles in The Mechanic, 3:10 to Yuma, and X3 has landed the role and will be playing opposite John Travolta, Al Pacino, and Kelly Preston!
This news has been confirmed correct by Reuters and THR so this time I think it’s safe to believe that the role has actually been cast!
Oh and in other Gotti: In the Shadow of my Father news, it looks like Joe Pesci is out and possibly Lindsay Lohan…. check out the above links for further … Read More »
Gotti Film Undergoes Name Change
19th June
Written by: Stoic Taco
The new gangster film from director Barry Levinson and starring John Travolta as John Gotti Sr has undergone a slight name change for its theatrical release in 2013, as reported by EW.
Its current working title is Gotti: Three Generations but it will be known as Gotti: In the Shadow of my Father when it’s released.
I think that the new title definitely reiterates that the film will be told from the John Gotti Jr role and focuses on the relationship between the father and son. The role of John Gotti Jr is the only major role still not cast for the film. Following on from the recent news that Johnny Depp, James Franco, and Robert Downey Jr all turned down the role.
With a cast currently consisting of John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and Lindsay Lohan, it’s … Read More »
Gotti: Three Generations – No News on Gotti Jr
15th June
Written by: Stoic Taco
It appears that Gotti: Three Generations has all the main roles cast except for the role of John Gotti Jnr. This is a pretty big gap considering that the focus on the film is the relationship between the “Teflon Don” and his son.
There were a few big names thrown around as being in contention for the role, the names included; Johnny Depp, James Franco, Robert Downey Jr, and Jeremy Renner. According to Executive Producer Marty Inglis, “Franco turned it down and Depp, Jeremy Renner and Downey, Jr. were too busy with other movies. We are going to have to put out an urgent casting call. Junior is a big part of this movie. It is very much his story.”
It’s a real shame that James Franco turned down the role because I think he would be perfect casting. I … Read More »
Gotti: Three Generations Director Speaks
25th May
Written by: Stoic Taco
Barry Levinson, the director of Gott: Three Generations has spoken about the new film in an interview given at the Cannes Film Festival.
“You’re really kind of getting an inside look from the man who lived it, who in fact was the mafia boss there, and about his father, who was probably the biggest, most well-known figure…It fascinated me to hear the stories, to get a sense of the man, get a sense of how he viewed his father.”
The role of John Gotti Snr is still vacant at this point in time, however I have heard the name James Franco being thrown around more than once, however nothing official has been confirmed.
The film already contains an all-star heavyweight cast, John Travolta as John Gotti, real life wife Kelly Preston as Victoria Gotti, Joe Pesci as Angelo Ruggiero, Lindsay Lohan as Kim … Read More »
Al Pacino Joins ‘Gotti:Three Generations’
10th May
The news is good. The news is very good.
The Godfather himself, Michael Corleone aka Al Pacino, has signed on to join the cast of Gotti: Three Generations playing John Gotti Sr’s associate and mentor Neil Dellacroce.
If any actor was going lend credibility to a film and bring it back on track it’s going to be Al Pacino.
The film has been plagued with some controversy, Lindsay Lohan being cast then removed then re-cast again and also having the original director walk away, and so casting the Godfather in an integral role is surely going to raise interest and get the film back on track.
The second lot of good news is the addition of Barry Levinson stepping into the role as director, a position which has remained empty since Nick Cassavetes walked away a month or so ago. Barry Levinson has had … Read More »
