Madonna’s directorial debut W.E has been given a release date and it’s this year…but only for New York and Los Angeles.

As reported by THR, the Weinstein Co. distributed film will open December 9th 2011 in New York and Los Angeles with plans for a wider distribution in January next year.

The story of King Edward VIII and Wallace Simpson has been brought to the big screen in W.E by the Material Girl herself, Madonna.

Madonna assumed the role of both writer and director for W.E, a two tier romantic drama which focuses on the affair between King Edward VIII and American divorcée Wallis Simpson and a contemporary romance between a married woman and a Russian security guard.

W.E marks the second time that Madonna has stepped behind the camera, the first being 2008′s Filth and Wisdom which is currently rated at a poor 26% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Will W.E score any better?

As you are probably already aware that I am all kinds of excited about this film which gets released in cinemas this Thursday 7th April. So here’s the kicker, I have plans tonight…actually bought tickets to go see The Lincoln Lawyer (review to follow tomorrow) so will miss the premiere…

However I will definitely be living vicariously through those of you who attend tonight, so make sure you tell us all about it!!

I stopped by the cinemas this afternoon to see how the setup was going, and I have to say that it looks good!

The black carpet…soon to be filled with celebrities, media, and fans!

A Broke, down on his luck ‘writer’ and recently single Eddie Mora has a chance encounter with his shifty ex-brother in law and gets offered NZT an expensive drug ($800 a pop) but he is promised it will change his world.

With little to lose and a limited guarantee that the drug is government approved Eddie tries the drug and finds a focus we can only dream of. NZT allows you to access 100% of your brain and boy is life good when you can. Eddie can now access memories from over ten years ago and make them relevant to a current problem.

If at any point in your life you have ever wished that you could become the better version of yourself then Limitless is definitely the movie for you!

Limitless is the story of down and out writer Eddie Morra (played perfectly by Bradley Cooper) who struggles daily with the mounting pressure of writer’s block and an approaching deadline. To make matter’s worse, his long term girlfriend Lindy (played by Abbie Cornish) has decided to call it quits. Just when things couldn’t look any worse for our protagonist, Eddie manages to obtain and ingest a new drug which allows him access 100% of his brain…and in the process becomes the version of himself that he never thought possible.
