‘Dredd’ Official Trailer and Poster
The first official trailer for Dredd has arrived and it definitely looks a helluva lot better than the original version (which shall not be named). It’s gritty, action-packed, and looks like it should restore some credibility to the name of Judge Dredd.
Directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point) and starring Karl Urban (Star Trek) and Lena Headey (TV’s Game of Thrones), Dredd tells the story of a city besieged by a new designer drug and it’s up to the men and women of the Hall of Justice to bring order back to the city. Some will be judged, some will be measured, and some will be executed!
So what did you think of the trailer?
There are a couple of things I thought of whilst watching the trailer, I couldn’t help but think of Robocop 2 and The Raid.
Do you remember Robocop 2? Man I loved that movie! Remember it was Detroit which was under siege from a drug epidemic and it was up to everyone’s favourite cyborg to track down Cain and put an end to the supply…
During the trailer there’s that scene when the Judges are trapped in the building and they have to fight their way out…well I am pretty sure I just watched that movie and I suspect that anything compared to The Raid (or The Raid: Redemption if you’re in the US) will be found wanting…
To me, Dredd look like a huge improvement on the original version but I don’t know if it’s going to be the big blockbuster that they are hoping for.
Dredd is released on the following dates: (correct as of today)
Australia: 25th October 2012, US: 21st September 2012 and UK: 7th September 2012

ha. this film isn’t going to be a big blockbuster, but it will be fun to see it. I like how they included a variation of the line “I Am The Law” in the trailer. haha
Not too sure how the film will pan out. I did see the clip with the slow motion gun fight with blood flying everywhere which is a bit different but also something we saw in 300. So i’m still double minded about the whole film.
